So, recently my wife got a new job. She used to work across the street from me and we’d get coffee and walk every day. Now, I don’t have that anymore. If it is OK with Oppo, I may post interesting auto’s from time to time as I walk around Downtown Vancouver. It gets me out of the office.
A Caterham Super 7 drove past me, but I a) wasn’t quick enough on the camera and b) don’t really like taking pictures of driving cars.
A Canada Post Electric Delivery Vehicle
Nothing special, but all you see these days is rows of luxury SUV’s. It is so boring.
Nothing special, but I do like the Velars....a lot.

Dang, the Velar looks great. I’d take it over any other Rangie at the moment.

Me too. The front isn’t even it’s best part. The back is really, really nice to me. It is simply the best in the Range Rover lineup.

Please do! Interesting cars are interesting! Shame it’s all luxo SUVs though. :/
That electric Canada Post van is interesting, we still have a few old Grumman LLVs around here and 1st-gen Ford Transit Connects!

Your tax dollars hard at work delivering mail to some of North America’s most expensive postcodes.

As a longtime banking risk analyst, I hate that all I see are more bellweathers of a continuing auto credit crisis in the making...and the effects of foreign capital influxes creating all kinds of mini bubbles around our two countries, especially in commercial real estate.
But props to the Ferrari owner for not going with black rims!

It’s insane. There is a plot of land near here with a burger place on it that sold for $245M recently. I walked right by it today.

There’s a certain “hurry up and take my money” attitude coming from China right now. It’s a free country, but so many of these deals are happing so fast, you have to wonder how much negotiating is happening. Sort of like how Mexico used to be cheap to retire until everyone in California started buying down there :D
But a lot of Commercial RE deals today are being done by private equity and various pension and debt funds — whereas a few years ago it was still primarily banks (with strict regulations and requirements from the borrowers). The results aren’t necessarily bad, just riskier.
I still can’t wrap my head around $245mm for a fast food location, even if you’re putting in a high rise.

It’s sad. If you go on Realtor.ca, the cheapest home (Condo) in the neighborhood I’m sitting in right now (Coal Harbour) is $658K for 530sqf.

OMFG. I’ve ate there before! I thought it seemed out of place in the context of all the towers around it, but I also appreciated that it made the area feel less ... downtown? It was like a tiny sliver of suburbia.

They actually used to be my client. Fun fact, the tower that will be built there? It will have a White Spot in the bottom. That was part of the sales contract.

I wonder why the USPS doesn’t use something like that electric vehicle for mail delivery in cities. It looks great/perfect for the job.
I’m surprised they created another size vehicle. It seems like it’d be crowding the Evoque’s market. Another interesting thing to point out is that the Velar has WA plates.

That’s great, but I bet the parking won’t be free (and certainly won’t be ground level). Soon there will be nothing interesting left anywhere in Vancouver. It’s like South Lake Union, only it seems to be even further along.

I sat in one at an auto show and everything felt super solid and well-made. The materials inside are tremendous. Shame the reliability has turned out to be classic Range Rover.

Real estate from foreign investment has taken a slightly different toll on the east coast. Mostly people severely in debt after the bubble burst at the turn of the new year, but there are a few grim cases.

Saw my first Velar in the wild today, a red one. It’s smaller than I was thinking, but in a good way, right sized. The design is cleaner than some other midsized luxury SUVs.

I’ve seen a few, I think I have one or two in my neighborhood. They are eye catching in their simplistic modern design
